What about putting my website in my sig file?

Under the RFC for netiquette, a sig file identifying yourself and your organization is not just permitted, but is actively encouraged.

For email, where the person you are writing to is likely to know you, the RFC says you should have no more than four text lines. For mass media such as USENET, there is no specified length, although long sigs tend to be frowned on.

If you are making a legitimate post to a newsgroup or similar media, and not simply posting your sig, there is nothing wrong with including the URL of your website in your sig. In fact, we recommend it.
